I am an anthropological archaeologist of Andean South America. My research has centered on themes of warfare and violence, and their connections to political authority and social identity. I am fascinated by the varied faces of warfare in practice, representation, and performance over the course of Andean prehistory. I am also particularly interested in the potential of geospatial and regional approaches to illuminate social processes.
My field research in Peru’s Lake Titicaca Basin has particularly focused on fortified hilltop villages or pukaras dating to the late pre-Columbian era.
